Description: Two code modifications for future technology center, one for reduced occupant load and one for installing alternative automatic fire extinguishing systems. the proposed building is a data processing facility; the first floor contains the electrical supply systems (emergency generators, batteries, power conditioners, switch gear, etc.) to support the second floor server rooms. the code modification to reduce the buildings occupant load to 30 per the city of mesa amendment to the exception to ibc section 1004.1.1, is approved with the following stipulations: 1. building must have two exits; travel distance exceeds ibc table 1019.2 limits. 2. any change in use or operation in the building will require a reevaluation of the occupant load. the code modification for the installation of alternative automatic fire extinguishing systems complying with ibc section 904 (with sub-sections) in place of automatic sprinkler systems per ibc section 903.1.1, is approved with the following stipulations: 1. the alternative automatic fire extinguishing systems qualify for all increases and reductions allowed under ibc section 903.3.1.1. 2. the fire department is requiring wet pipe sprinklers in the server rooms, they may be pre-action or double interlock pre-action systems. since the "clean agent" systems have a limited quantity of suppressant if the fire were to over power the "clean agent" then there is nothing left to control the fire.
